Which are the advantages of direct referrals contest?

I see that some sites in Prelaunch Phase, make direct referrals contest and offer prices for the Top Referrer Members.

Don't is too dangerous that a Member have a lot of direct referrals?

You can fix the limit of direct ref^^
Instead of advertising yourself , you give a price for the users who advertise

But, don't you think that is too much dangerouse that a member get a lot of direct referrals?

Remember that for example $0.01 per referral click x 4 clicks per referrals are = $0.04 cents

Imagine an user that have 100 active direct referrals that click 4 adds daily will get $4.00 dollars per day only of direct referrals (100 x 0.04 = $4.00)

What you offer for your ref , is a percent of the price of the advertising etc.
If you did well your clic rate , you will not be worry about that, cause , you will have enough money to afford ref.
If you don(t have , then, you MUST recalculate your advertising price , the ref clic price and everythings around, to have enough money to pay your members at the time.

The referral click rate is affordable, I asked because I want to know, why the sites in Prelaunch do direct referral contest?

Which are the real bennefits?

And I understand that the main bennefit is that the members help to advertise the site.

let me try to lay down what I think are the benefits of having a direct refs contest.

1. Members will advertise your site everywhere (save time & money in advertising)
2. You will get many members. Many members means many potential investors
3. Not all people who registers become a direct ref of a member who advertise your site.
Ex: Personally, when I see a banner link and becomes interested in the site, I will join removing the name of the referrer
4. If a user did #3, then you will get another ref for renting
