What Domain Name Should I Pick?
Hello
Below are my suggestions on what to consider when you pick a domain name:
1) Do not use a bux suffix or prefix.
2) Do not pick a silly name.
3) Use a name which is relative to the advertisers you are targeting.
4) Get it via a site like Godaddy, so that you can manage your domain off site of where you host.
5) Pick a name which has not been burned up by another site.
Number 1 Explained:
You want to stray away from the bux named sites. This is for the main reason that they are all burned up. Also, when a REAL advertiser sees a bux suffix or prefix, they will not take you seriously. Bux also represents a business model which does not work, its a revolving ponzi scheme which uses referral sales/upgrade sales to then pay members.
Number 2 Explained:
Using silly site names is a killer in this business. If you want to succeed, then do not think too far outside the box, and do not think of goofy names or include words in your domain name which have a meaning which is not related to your business. Like smellybux, or mangobux...ect, site names like this will be your demise.
Number 3 Explained:
You are going to be running an advertising site with investment options ... that is how EVERY PTC type business is meant to be ran. Not as an investment site with advertising options. This means you will first need to pick a target field of advertisers. You can use animals, diet aids, or any other REAL type product, meaning ... you want the target field of advertiser you are applying to to see your name and feel that choosing you is the correct decision for his/her business.
Number 4 Explained:
If you choose a free domain name via the hosting company you choose, ... that is a BAD IDEA. Always choose a domain provide who is off site (not associated with your hosting). Also, if you choose a free domain via the host (some offer this as an incentive to purchase) they technically own that for up to 90 days. This means that if you and them do not see eye to eye, or their services are not right for your site, and you choose to leave, they can technically sell you YOUR domain name for what ever they wish. I had this happen and a site wanted $60/month ... what a scam!!
Number 5 Explained:
ALWAYS, ALWAYS, search the name you are choosing before you buy it. You have no idea if another person/company has used it prior to you and burned its validness up by poor management or ripping off innocent people. Google it, and search it as deep as you can to see who the previous owner(s) were and how they conducted business.
Thanks
Rob
